What Prescriptions Do Med-Healths Doctors Write?

You often know in advance which medications will help you and which ones you tolerate best – for example, if you have hay fever or a migraine attack is imminent. As a rule, you still have to go to a doctor’s office because the required medication requires a prescription. With the Med-Healths App you can also have your prescription issued from the comfort of your own home.

It’s very simple: Book a video appointment, get medical advice and then receive your digital private prescription in the app. You can then either redeem your prescription at your local pharmacy or have the medication delivered to your home via a mail-order pharmacy. Here you can find out for which type of medication you can get a prescription from us – and which ones are excluded.

What medications can I not get a prescription for?

Narcotics, tranquilizers and strong painkillers often require strict medical supervision. In the case of severe symptoms, there can be complex causes of the disease, which must be examined in detail. Some medicines may have severe side effects: a doctor must regularly monitor their intake.

Narcotics and strong painkillers

Our doctors cannot issue you a prescription for drugs that are subject to the Narcotics Act.

These include:

  • Morphin
  • cannabis products
  • Tilidin Drops
  • codeine, dihydrocodeine
  • Methylphenidat (Ritalin)

Our doctors do not issue prescriptions for strong painkillers, opiates and opioids such as tramadol.

tranquilizers and sleeping pills

You cannot obtain a prescription from Med-Healths for benzodiazepine derivatives such as diazepam (“Valium”), lorazepam (“Tavor”) and oxazepam.

We take our responsibility very seriously. Medications that are potentially addictive require medical supervision. Therefore, such medicines can only be prescribed in absolutely exceptional cases and after thorough consideration by the doctor treating you.

Other medicines

Also excluded are contraceptives, medication for abortion and fertility treatment.

How do I get an online prescription?

In order to receive a prescription, you must have spoken to a doctor in advance. Thanks to the video consultation, you no longer have to leave the house. The doctors at Med-Healths can give you prescriptions just like your family doctor. Note that these are private recipes. This means that you may have to pay for the medication yourself, depending on where you are insured. The same applies to us: we do not issue any prescriptions without medical advice.

How much does an online prescription cost?

Due to the current legal situation, it is not yet possible to digitally issue health insurance prescriptions in Germany. Therefore, our doctors can only issue private prescriptions. This means that if you have statutory health insurance, you currently still have to bear the cost of your medication yourself.

Depending on the tariff, privately insured persons (and in some cases also those with statutory health insurance) can then have the costs reimbursed by their health insurance company. You should ask for a signed copy of the prescription when you pick up your medication from the pharmacy. If you order medication online, you will receive the invoice by email.

As soon as the legal provisions on e-prescriptions change in the Federal Republic of Germany, we will make it possible for you to receive digital prescriptions.

How do I get my medication?

With Med-Healths you get your prescription directly in the app. Pick up the medication from your local pharmacy or have it conveniently delivered to your home. You can find more information about collection and home delivery here .
